The Outsider

(Words and Music by Andy Vargo)

There’s a little house
On a suburban street
Somewhere in middle England.
It’s a sleepy place
Where people meet
To celebrate their comfortable lives.

It’s early evening.
I stand in the garden of this house.
I look through these French windows
Into a room.

Chorus
I’m the Outsider.
I know who I am.
I’m not looking for trouble.
As I walk through this land.
This land…

The people on the inside seem OK.
The kids are there runnin’ ‘round playin’ games.
Some of the guys watch football on the TV.
They drink lager and make conversation.

Some of the women are gathered ‘round a table
Makin’ sandwiches and talkin’ real fast.
Suddenly one of them looks up to the window.
She knows I’m there.

Chorus

For some reason she’s the only one who knows I’m there.
She smiles as if she knows me,
And just for a moment I lose myself
In her beautiful…
Her beautiful liquid eyes.
Then she beckons to me.
She beckons to me.

Chorus
